Arla Foods Names New Chief Supply Chain Officer

Farmer-owned dairy co-operative Arla Foods has announced the appointment of Danone executive David Boulanger as its new chief supply chain officer and executive vice-president, effective 1 October 2020.

He will be responsible for Arla's global supply chain, which includes all manufacturing, logistics and procurement in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, North America, China and Southeast Asia.

'An Accomplished And Experienced Leader'

Arla Foods CEO, Peder Tuborgh, commented, “The importance of the need for resilient and agile supply chains in the global food industry, has never been better understood than it is right now.

“In David, we have an accomplished and experienced leader who brings both the strong customer and people orientation that we need to navigate through the challenges of COVID-19 along with the vision and strategic capability to help us to continue to grow our business over the longer term.”

Boulanger is an experienced food industry professional, who currently serves as the senior vice president of operations for Danone Specialised Nutrition.

He started his career Masterfoods and moved on to Danone, where he spent 17 years in several leadership positions in the supply chain division.

Commenting on his new role, Boulanger said, “It is a dynamic global business with a strong track record of superior product quality and innovation. It has an exciting stable of brands that are growing in both its International and European markets.

“Being passionate about nature and the responsibility of the food industry on climate change, I am also highly motivated by its commitment to sustainability across its end to end value chain, particularly the ambitious targets set by its farmer-owners to continue the transition to sustainable dairy production to meet the evolving needs of their consumers, customers and broader stakeholders across society.”
