Polish retailer Biedronka has announced that it has opened a new store in Białołęka in Warsaw, equipped with eco-friendly technological solutions.
The 700 square-metre store uses 100% solar and wind-powered lighting, based on the weather.
The retailer has installed around 160 photovoltaic panels in the roof and parking space.
The property also houses an electric vehicle charging station and a Veturilo station for cyclists.
The store has replaced all paper advertisements with LCD screens, and installed a modern air-conditioning system that operates on natural gases.
The temperature in the refrigerators and freezers are automatically-monitored to guarantee the highest quality of products, the retailer added.
The store offers recyclable paper bags for vegetables, fruit, and bread.
Other Highlights
The store offers free wi-fi for customers, a special queue detection system, 6 self-service cash registers, as well as an intelligent internal communications system.
It also houses a self-service corner 'Kawa i Ciacho' for coffee and food items for on-the-go customers.
Paweł Stolecki, operational director of Biedronka's macro-region, said, "This solution is directed in particular to those customers of Biedronka who do not have time for big shopping and do not want to stand in a queue to buy a good coffee or a quick lunch."
