Ahold Delhaize's Doubles Warehouse Capacity

Ahold Delhaize's Doubles Warehouse Capacity, the leading online Dutch retailer, which is part of the Ahold Delhaize Group, has announced it is to double its warehouse capacity from 50,000 to 100,000 square metres.

According to the company, 100 jobs will be created between the expansion of the warehouse in Waalwijk and the offices in Utrecht in the Netherlands.

Increased Service

Speaking about the expansion, Huub Vermeulen, Managing Director at said, "This expansion, less than a year after opening our first fulfilment centre, has enabled us – even with increasing volumes – to continue to provide great service to our customers and to our partners that sell through

The company said that theWaalwijk centre is already one of the most sustainable buildings in the Benelux region, and its expansion will aim for the highest BREEAM score.

The Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method is the world's longest established method of assessing, rating, and certifying the sustainability of buildings.

The brand says that the expansion will allow for an even better service. previously launched a same-day delivery service in late 2016.

Ahold Delhaize said that the move is part of its strategy to reach €5 billion in online consumer sales by 2020 across the group.
