Carrefour To Launch Express Grocery Delivery Service In France With Deliveroo

After launching in Belgium, Italy and Spain, Carrefour has partnered with Deliveroo for express grocery delivery service in France.

The partnership will see the retailer launch a less than 30-minute home-delivery service in France this week.

Initially, the service will be available in Paris, followed by a rollout to ten other top cities over the coming months.

The partnership will strengthen Carrefour's express home shopping delivery offer and extend it to Europe's main cities.

'A New Stage'

Elodie Perthuisot, Carrefour Group's executive director of e-commerce, data and digital transformation, said, "This international partnership marks a new stage in the development of our e-commerce. It allows us to significantly expand the reach of our services at a crucial time of market acceleration.

"Having our Carrefour stores on the Deliveroo platform in France, Belgium, Italy and Spain also raise our profile alongside our e-commerce services and the other partnerships we have already entered into at a local level."

Meanwhile, Deliveroo is developing its on-demand grocery offering in these countries by giving customers a wide selection of everyday products from Carrefour's supermarket shelves.

The network of Carrefour stores connected to the Deliveroo website will allow the fulfilment of 30-minute shopping deliveries at attractive prices, with a wide range of about 1,000 products available.

'Fast-Growing Market'

Ajay Lakhwani, global VP for groceries and commercial partnerships at the Deliveroo Group, added, "On-demand grocery is a fast-growing market and one of Deliveroo's strategic priorities. We are very happy to be able to team up with Carrefour and together bring on-demand groceries to consumers.

"We are excited about partnering with Carrefour to make the best of their amazing food, their expertise, and their proven track record for operational excellence, combined with Deliveroo's leading delivery service and consumer experience. This will allow us to bring a wider choice to customers, so they can turn to Deliveroo whatever the occasion."

The rollout of express delivery service is picking up speed in Belgium with the forthcoming extension of the service to Antwerp in April and then in Ghent in May, following Brussels and Liège on 5 March.

In Italy, the service is available in 50 major cities, while Spain partnered with Deliveroo in the spring of 2020.
