Diversified Communications UK Launches New Sustainability In Retail Forum

Award-winning international event organiser, Diversified Communications UK, has announced the launch of a new sustainability conference dedicated to senior retail professionals and key industry stakeholders in the Nordic region.

Taking place on 13 November 2019, at MalmöMässan in Sweden, the Sustainability in Retail Forum will co-locate with the Nordic Organic Food Fair and Eco Life Scandinavia – forming an integral part of Scandinavia’s leading sustainable living trade event.

Why Should Retailers Pay Attention To Sustainability?

Because customers are paying attention – 93% of global consumers expect more of the brands they use to support social and environmental issues, according to a report by the Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA).

With transformational changes required across multiple sectors, the Forum will present retail professionals with expert insights on how to develop, innovate, and implement vital sustainable measures in their businesses.

Covering everything from sustainability challenges to untapped opportunities in the region, as well as the importance of marketing strategy, the Forum marks the beginning of a fundamental shift to preserving a positive future for people and the planet.

Carsten Holm, managing director of Diversified Communications UK, said, "Sustainability is a complex issue for all industries and none more so than retail. There are no quick or easy solutions to sustainability, so it is up to everyone to learn from and inspire each other to make a difference.

"The Sustainability in Retail Forum will provide delegates with knowledge from industry thought-leaders, as well as real-life case studies designed to help them achieve their sustainability goals. More importantly, the Forum will provide a platform for debate and networking, so that retailers can carry on the conversation for years to come," he explained.

Leading The Debate

The first speakers in the compelling line-up include, Erik Hedén, founder of Sustainable Brand Index; Anna Högberg, CEO of Futerra Sweden; Johannes Cullberg, CEO & founder of Paradiset; Jim Manson, editor-in-chief of Natural Products Global; Anna-Kajsa Lidell, co-founder and head of progress strategy at Food For Progress; and Johan Cejie, CEO of Moreganic Sourcing AB.

"We find ourselves in a time where the need for radical transformations across industries and regions has never been this urgent. Sustainability is needed in light of all the current environmental and social challenges, from the way we use resources and manage waste, to the way we eat, shop or travel," said Erik Hedén, founder of Sustainable Brand Index.

During the Sustainability in Retail Forum, Hedén will provide almost a decade worth of consumer data and important trends on how sustainability affects branding, communication and business development within the retail industry.

"On the one hand, awareness and knowledge levels around sustainability are growing," he said. "On the other, it feels incredibly difficult to prioritise and measure our impact. Both for companies and governments, as well as for individuals. The time to cheer from the side-lines is over and brands need to actively work to understand their stakeholders and contribute to sustainable solutions within the space they operate."
