Heineken To Donate €15m To The Red Cross To Tackle COVID-19 Crisis

Brewing giant Heineken has announced that it is to donate €15 million to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) in light of the coronavirus pandemic.

The money will be used to support the most vulnerable sections of the society affected by the virus in Africa, Asia and Latin America.

Commenting on the move, Heineken CEO and chairman of the executive board, Jean-François van Boxmeer, said, “For over 100 years the Red Cross has worked tirelessly to save lives around the world. Now more than ever, we want to offer them our support in the work they do to help the most vulnerable beat COVID-19.”

Heineken also reiterated that the health and safety of its employees and people of the communities in which it operates are of paramount importance to the company and highlighted several measures implemented by it to help in fighting the pandemic.

Other Initiatives

The brewer has ensured that hygiene and social distancing guidelines are strictly followed in its production and distribution sites for the safety of its employees.

In addition, Heineken will pay its suppliers at agreed payment terms and support its small- and medium-sized suppliers through early payments.

The beer giant has also introduced several local initiatives across the globe to support front line workers in the fight against COVID-19.

Some of its initiatives include the donation of water and non-alcoholic beverages, the production of hand sanitisers, and monetary contributions to front line medical facilities.
