Maxima Grupė Names New CEO Of International Sourcing Arm

Lithuanian retail giant Maxima Grupė has appointed Tomas Palevičius as the chief executive of its new procurement arm - Maxima International Sourcing - which will begin operations from February 2019.

The new business will provide agency services to the group’s retail chains in the Baltics, Poland, and Bulgaria, develop private label brands, and engage in wholesale trade.

Palevičius said, "The main priority of the newly established company is to effectively consolidate purchasing from our partners and ensure goods are acquired in different markets on the most attractive terms so we can offer good prices to customers.

"We are also open for cooperation with other trading companies in negotiating with large suppliers.”

An Industry Veteran

Palevičius is an industry veteran with more than 20 years of experience in retail and wholesale trade.

Before joining Maxima Grupė, he worked for more than nine years at Kotryna Group as head of sales for the Baltic region.

He served as the chief commercial officer of Franmax until the spring of last year.

The Board Members

The chairperson of the new board is Maxima Grupė’s chief commercial officer Ieva Lauraitytė.

Other members include Maxima’s chief commercial officers for the Baltics – Vilma Drulienė of Maxima LT, Viktors Troicins of Maxima Latvija, and Kristina Mustonen of Maxima Eesti.

The chief commercial officer of Franmax, Gintaras Jasinskas, is also a member of the board.

Initially, the company will have around 125 employees, and it plans to expand to a workforce of more than 140 in the coming months.

In November of last year, the retailer announced its decision to establish the new procurement arm.
