Packaging giant Smurfit Kappa has announced that it has opened a new folding-carton plant in Tijuana, in Mexico.
The new unit will strengthen the company’s footprint in the Baja California region and the neighbouring Northern Mexican states, the company reported.
'Long-Term Commitment'
Eduardo Ruio, vice-president of packaging for Northern Mexico, said, "The inauguration of this important operation reflects the Smurfit Kappa Group's long-term commitment to Mexico and its confidence in the growth of the country's economy and its markets.
"We are confident that this plant and the high-quality products we produce will contribute to the growth of our customer’s business in this region," added Ruio.
A Modern Facility
The factory, which became operational in January of this year, is equipped with technology to produce folding-carton packaging solutions, including boxes and trays.
It manufactures flat and pre-glued products that cater to the requirements of its retail and supply chain customers.
The new plant in Tijuana is the third of its type in Mexico, where the company has been operating for more than 40 years.
The packaging giant manufactures a range of packaging products in the country for the consumer electronics, industrial, medical and food sectors.
