Spar South Africa has taken steps to ensure that its own brand seafood supports sustainable and well-managed fisheries, as part of an initiative to promote responsibly-produced seafood.

The retailer has acknowledged the over-exploitation of seafood and the negative environmental impact of fishing.

Spar South Africa has committed to implementing positive change regarding seafood sustainability through education and information throughout the company.

Spar South Africa own brand seafood such as canned tuna, Norwegian Salmon, Namibian Hake and Prawns will all be closely monitored by the retailer in regards to sustainability.
