Ahold Delhaize has appointed Selma Postma to the position of brand president at Peapod, its US-based online grocery service.
Postma joins the US operation having spent close to two decades at Albert Heijn in the Netherlands. She has held the position of general manager at Albert Heijn Online since 2014, where she has been part of the team that has lifted sales by more than 20% on an annual basis at the channel.
Postma also has experience in developing and managing retail apps, such as Albert Heijn's 'Appie', and developing solutions such as voice assistance and delivery subscriptions.
"I'm very excited to see Selma take up this important role at Peapod, one of our great local brands and the leading US online grocer, as we are stepping up efforts to further accelerate U.S. ecommerce growth," commented Frans Muller, President & CEO Ahold Delhaize.
"Her deep knowledge of food retail and online expertise make Selma the right person to lead Peapod into the next phase. Selma's appointment is a testimonial to the deep talent pool within Ahold Delhaize and it shows how we can share best practices and knowledge across the group."
Earlier this week, Ahold Delhaize posted a 3.0% increase in comparable sales in its US operations.
