Asda Introduces ‘Scan & Go Mobile' Service In All Stores

UK retailer Asda has rolled out the ‘Scan & Go Mobile' service in all 581 stores to encourage contactless shopping in wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

The service allows customers to use their phones to scan and pay for groceries in stores through the Asda app.

The move will ensure the safety of employees and customers by offering the option to shop, pack and pay in a contactless manner.

Convenient Shopping

Senior director of retail and front end innovation at Asda, Louise Bagshaw, said, “We’re always looking for ways to make shopping with us as easy as possible and offer options that suit our customers’ needs.

“The accelerated roll-out of Scan & Go Mobile provides another option when shopping in all of our stores that is contact-free, to bring added peace of mind during these uncertain times."

At a time when many households are facing financial pressure, the feature will also allow customers to keep a tab on expenditure while shopping, the retailer added.

The extension of Scan & Go Mobile to all stores includes 223 additional outlets offering the service.

“We understand that this option (Scan & Go Mobile) may not be suitable for all of our customers and continue to follow strict social distancing in our stores, to help keep our customers and colleagues safe - no matter how they shop with us,” Bagshaw added.

The retailer has also extended its opening hours to allow customers more time to shop.
