Carrefour France Brings Virtual Reality To The Hypermarket

To mark its anniversary month, Carrefour France is letting its customers experience another way of shopping. Until 3 October, and for a special price of €3, customers now have the chance to purchase one of 175,000 cardboard virtual reality viewers for use in-store.

As France's first retailer to make virtual reality widely accessible, Carrefour has not only developed its own VR glasses, but also a smartphone app to support the launch.

Going on a journey through Russian mountains is now possible within the walls of a Carrefour store. The program offers five different worlds, adjusted to the particular sections of the shop, such as a futuristic world for hi-tech and multimedia products and an 'enchanted forest' for natural and organic products.

The service is available in 228 hypermarkets throughout France. The Carrefour VR app is available on the App Store and Google Play.
