Carrefour Poland Expands Click & Collect Service

Carrefour Poland is introducing collection stations for online purchases in its franchised stores in the country, reports Wiadomoschi Handlowe. The new click & collect service points will be installed in addition to existing ones in Carrefour hypermarkets and supermarkets.

This makes Carrefour the first Polish retailer to include the pick-up points in smaller, franchised stores. With this move, the company aims to increase its online sales and gain an advantage over other retailers.

“We are currently testing the inclusion of click & collect service points into franchise stores,” said Marek Lipka, director of convenience stores at Carrefour Poland. “This move will be beneficial not only from Carrefour’s perspective and its online store but also for the franchisees included.”

Collaborative Economy

In addition, Carrefour Poland launched a ‘collaborative economy’ project in its stores in March 2017. The programme allows consumers to upload their shopping list online or on the Carrefour app. Other customers can then purchase the items needed and deliver them to a selected address in return for vouchers and discounts.

“Carrefour’s strategy is an innovative approach to the retail market, not just in bigger stores. Many of the solutions that are first tested and implemented at Carrefour’s own supermarkets are then introduced to franchised locations,” said Lipka.

Carrefour operates more than 800 supermarkets across Poland, around 500 of which are franchises. The retailer plans to open over 100 new franchised stores by the end of 2017.

“Franchised stores are an important part of Carrefour’s development strategy in Poland. Since January, we have already opened 50 new outlets, and we are working on maintaining this pace,” Lipka added.
