Carrefour is testing two virtual shopping walls, allowing customers to purchase more than 300 items with their smarthphone, through virtual walls located in train stations.
The French retailer's first trial location is at Lyon’s Part-Dieu station, installed last Tuesday (2 Oct), running till 18 October. A second trial is scheduled for installation in Paris’ Gare du Nord station on Wednesday (10 Oct) which will run until the end of the month.
Using Carrefour’s ‘My Shopping’ application for smartphones, customers can scan products for home delivery or pick up from a Carrefour Drive outlet, and can be paid for by credit or debit card, through the app.
"4 to 5 per cent of orders from Ooshop are already made via smartphones or tablets," said Bruno Lebon, director e-commerce food at Carrefour France. (8 Oct)
