Casino has revealed the latest expansion of its popular Cdiscount online business, announcing new country specific websites in the markets of Thailand, Vietnam and Colombia. The launches will be made through its subsidiary retail chains Big C (which operates in Thailand and Vietnam) and Exito (Colombia).
Casino said in a statement that these launches are aimed at capturing a share of the fast-growing online market in all of these countries, adding that it will benefit from the knowledge and expertise already built up in these subsidiaries.
Cdiscount was launched in France 10 years ago and last year had a turnover of €1.6 billion.
The announcement came one day after Groupe Casino reported a forth-quarter sales increase of 1.9%. It said that its fourth quarter consolidated net sales were up on the same period of 2012, climbing 1.9% to €13.1 billion.
