Decò Launches Virtual Grocery Pop-Up In Naples
Italian grocery retailer Decò is examining the future of shopping through by offering an immersive virtual reality experience in a temporary store opened in Naples last month, according to news agency Adn Kronos.
The Decò Temporary Store , which will be open until March, includes spaces for tasting, games for small children and fun activities for all ages.
During weekends in January, visitors will be able to enter a virtual room where they can make their purchases, mirroring an experience that in the not-too-distant future may be done from the comfort of their homes.
The initiative follows a very successful experience organised by the Città della Scienza museum, and further reinforces the cooperation with inVRsion, a start-up that develops solutions for virtual reality in business.
The Decò Temporary Store focuses on typical Italian products at competitive prices, and especially those linked to the territory and the Neapolitan tradition. Local specialties include the famous nougat of Avellino; Sicilian stuffed pandoro (cassata, pistachio, and almond); white and red wines from Campania (Falanghina, Fiano and Pallagrello); the Gusto Decò private label limoncello; both dry and fresh special pasta; Cherry, Corbarino and Datterini tomatoes; and DOP cheese.
Decò currently operates 400 stores in four formats – Maxistore, Supermarket, Market and Superfreddo – present in eight regions of Italy.
