Russia's Dixy Group Introduces Android Pay In Stores

Russian retailer Dixy Group has announced that its stores are now accepting payments through the Android Pay contactless service.

It said that Android smartphone owners will now be able to add their bank card to a mobile app and pay for their purchases by simply placing their phone on the payment terminal at the checkout.

All Dixy stores are currently equipped with contactless payment terminals, and the Russian chain has been accepting Apple and Samsung Pay since 2016.

Innovative technologies

The group said the share of cashless settlements in its chains exceeds 35%, with the average purchase amount 1.5 times higher in the case of a cashless payment.

Dixy Group IT Director, Vladimir Muravyov, said that the “use of innovative technologies for doing something as habitual as shopping is becoming increasingly widespread".
