Dutch Retailer Albert Heijn Launches 'AH To Go' App

Dutch retailer Albert Heijn has launched the 'AH To Go' app, which offers customers 'on-the-go' time-specific deals and other discounts throughout the day. The app can also be used to save up for free products, or find the way to the nearest AH store.

To find a particular deal via the app, customers will need to ‘swipe’ a stack of virtual cards, stored in the app and displayed on the screen. The deals can be activated by dragging down the particular deal card, and closed by scanning the customer card, at the checkout.

Some of the special deals are intended to match the time of day, so that a typical mid-afternoon food deal will offer a discount on a snack or a salad.

The app also stores various loyalty cards, which can be used to save up for free products and a general ‘inspiration and information’ card. It was developed for Android 4.0 (or higher) operating systems, in collaboration with the retailer's suppliers, and fine-tuned by its employees.
