Germany's Combi Introduces Online Shopping Service
Combi’s parent company, Bünting Group is a medium-sized trading company, based in Leer in Germany's LowerSaxony region, with more than 14,000 employees and around 800 trainees.
Markus Buntz, CEO of the East Frisian Bünting Group, said, "More and more customers are also buying groceries online. With our online shop myTime.de we have been showing for years how Germany's online grocery shopping works well.
Delivery of online orders will be carried out on emission-free e-cargo bicycles by the regional postal service provider, Citipost Nordwest.
To cut down on packaging, deliveries by Combi will be made on biodegradable bags, and foldable, returnable transport boxes.
Customers in Oldenburg in Lower Saxony can also avail pick-up services for goods ordered online from three Combi stores.
"We are now expanding this offer via combi.de and are taking the next step in delivery with groundbreaking pilot projects," Buntz added.
In order to avail the service, customers need to place their orders online by 10:00 am and pick-up their groceries the next day, after 12:00 pm. A service fee of €2.99 is charged on orders below €50.
The company will expand the grocery pick-up service if the concept proves to be successful.
