Honeywell Goes Battery-Free With New Industry-Leading Retail Scanning Technology

Honeywell Scanning & Mobility has unveiled an innovative new suite of Voyager scanners, designed to empower retailers to better connect with customers and minimise checkout time.

According to the company, the new scanner products complement Honeywell’s existing portfolio of retail solutions, creating an in-store voice workflow solution running on Honeywell’s next-generation mobile platform, supporting the Microsoft Windows Embedded 8.1 and Android 5.0 operating systems.

“Retailers are feeling more pressure than ever from consumers to deliver faster and smoother in-store experiences,” said Bob Grabowski, director of industry marketing, Honeywell Scanning & Mobility.

“With these new products, our goal is to give retail professionals the ability and freedom to select the right tools to enable innovative marketing programmes and effortlessly run operations while improving the customer experience.”

Extending Honeywell’s leadership in engineering scanning solutions for the world’s leading retailers, the four new Voyager scanners are designed with the future of retail in mind, helping to reduce checkout time, speed up loyalty programme enrollment and age verification, and unlock the full potential of the customer’s mobile shopping experience.

The new Voyager 1202G is Honeywell’s first of many battery-free wireless laser scanners, and provides the same aggressive linear barcode scanning performance as a wired scanner but without the long recharge time, maintenance, or environmental disposal issues associated with traditional batteries.

The affordable Voyager 1602g pocket 2D Bluetooth scanner packs high-performance area-imaging technology into an elegant and compact form factor, making it the perfect scanning companion to tablet-based retail POS systems.

For retailers that anticipate the need for area imaging in the future, such as scanning coupons off of customers’ smartphone screens, the Voyager 1450g tethered scanner and Voyager 1452g wireless scanner deliver powerful linear barcode scanning out of the box.

Both scanners are available for upgrade at a competitive price to enable PDF and 2D barcode reading at the initial time of purchase or at any point in the future.
