John Lewis Tests 'Click And Collect' Service With Co-op

Waitrose & Partners' parent John Lewis & Partners is testing a 'click and collect' service in Co-op food stores in the UK.

The move is part of John Lewis & Partners’ strategy to reach more customers by leveraging its supply chain.

Partner and head of customer fulfilment operations for John Lewis & Partners, Eva Cullen, said, "We are always looking for new ways to [offer] more convenience to our customers [...], and the success of this trial would present the opportunity to roll out the service to more shops."

The Trial Phase

The pilot project was initially launched for Co-op employees in its Manchester support centre store.

The service will be extended to five Co-op food stores by the end of the month, Co-op said in its statement.

These include stores in Piccadilly railway station in Manchester, Trent Bridge in Nottingham, Lordship Lane in East Dulwich, Westhorne Avenue in Eltham, and Hither Green in London.

Next-Day Delivery

New and existing customers will gain access to next-day Click & Collect service in areas where the John Lewis Partnership has a lower store count.

Mark Pettigrew, Co-op Director of Innovation and Format, said, "It is all about developing ease, convenience, and choice for today’s time-pressed shopper."

"Innovations and new technologies are driving a number of initiatives and creating value in our communities through increased offers and services for our members and customers," he explained.
