Up-market UK retailer M&S will launch localised online stores for its customers in Spain, Germany, Austria and Belgium on 19 November. The development of the websites is part of its strategy to grow to a leading multi-channel, international retailer.
This follows on from the launch of online stores for it French and Irish businesses earlier this year. 80 countries are serviced by the retailer's UK site and all four countries mentioned above were among the most popular delivery destinations. The sites will trade in Euros and offer the preferred local language, payment and delivery options.
“This is us moving forward with our plan to transform M&S from traditional British retailer to a leading international, multi-channel retailer,” said CEO Marc Bolland. M&S plans to trade online in 10 international markets before the end of its fiscal year. (1 Oct)
