Nielsen And Profitero In Online Competitor Pricing Service

Global information and insights company Nielsen has formed an alliance with pricing intelligence firm Profitero to provide an online competitor price intelligence service to Nielsen's retail clients, including supermarket retailers, in more than 20 countries. Nielsen is recognised as a world leader in supermarket market share data and Shop Price Index information.

Nielsen will add Profitero’s online competitor price monitoring service into its price audit offering to retail clients. Profitero helps retailers maximise profits by analysing online competitive information on millions of products and thousands of retailers worldwide. The agreement with Nielsen further validates the importance of retailers monitoring online retail prices in today’s dynamic, multichannel marketplace.

                                                 

Profitero will provide Nielsen retail clients with national and regional level competitor pricing intelligence, including competitors’ regular and promotional prices, promotions types, messages and product assortment. This offers retailers the competitive advantage of being able to benchmark their prices against the competition and implement successful pricing strategies and price optimisation. Profitero carries out high-quality product matching and monitors prices for both the leading brands and private-label products in many categories. Profitero’s customers include large-scale global retailers and manufacturers, including, among others, Tesco, Ocado, Worten (Sonae Group) and US-based Sam’s Club (Walmart). “With the majority of retailers now selling on the Internet, online competitor pricing data is essential for multichannel retailers, including supermarket chains, to grow sales and increase market share," Vol Pigrukh, chief executive of Profitero, told ESM.
