Soysuper, the retail analysis body, has carried out a study of online shopping in Spain.

The study focused on the price evolution of 108,000 products – both branded and private label – across the six biggest grocers in the country in the last year.

The retailers in question are Auchan, Carrefour, Condis, El Corte Inglés, Eroski and Mercadona.

Between the beginning of 2013 and the beginning 2014, prices rose by 1.2 per cent overall, although, in September, inflation dropped back to 0 per cent year on year, before rising slightly again in December (0.4 per cent).

The study shows that, for online shopping, Mercadona and Condis discounted hardest (prices fell by 1.5 per cent). Eroski dropped its prices by a single percentage point for the year.
