Tesco Ireland Unveils New €30m Tesco Extra Store In Dublin

Tesco Ireland has announced the opening of a new €30 million Tesco Extra store in Liffey Valley, Co. Dublin, which is set to create over 175 jobs.

The official opening of the new environmentally-friendly store, which took place today, was attended by the CEO of Tesco Ireland, Andrew Yaxley, as well as Irish TV presenter Lucy Kennedy.

The Liffey Valley store is part of Tesco’s €70 million national store investment plan. The store features 60,000 square feet of shopping space and over 440 free car parking spaces for customers, making it the retailer’s biggest store in Ireland.

Relaxing Customer Experience

It will also include retail units such as Tesco Mobile, Vision Express, Costa Coffee, Holland & Barrett and more, offering customers ‘a relaxed and hassle-free shopping experience’.

Tesco Ireland CEO, Andrew Yaxley, said, “Tesco Ireland is really committed to ensuring that our stores play a big part in local communities. We are very proud that the vast bulk of the 175 jobs at this Liffey Valley store are going to local people.

“This new environmentally-friendly flagship store will boast an extensive range of fresh food, groceries, beers, wines and spirits as well as an exciting range of F&F clothing, toys and home-wares. Providing a totally new and enhanced type of shopping experience for customers in the area, we look forward to working with local suppliers and becoming a strong and vibrant part of the community.”

The store will also be donating its surplus food to local charities that need it most through Tesco’s surplus food donations programme.

The Irish arm of the UK retailer recently extended its contract with North Dublin-based agribusiness Country Crest, in a deal worth over €60 million, to source a further 65,000 tonnes of fresh produce, including four varieties of potatoes, two varieties of sweet potatoes, and eight different types of onions.
