World Customs Organisation Adds Tracekey To Its Network

The World Customs Organisation (WCO) has added Tracekey Solutions to its global network of track-and-trace and authentication solutions, interfaced with the Interface Public Members (IPM), its online tool to combat counterfeiting.

In 2010, the WCO introduced the web-based IPM tool as an interface between frontline customs officers and the private sector.

The IPM tool enables rights holders faced with the counterfeiting of their brands to exchange information in real-time with field customs officers.

The new version of IPM integrates two major technical developments: a mobile version and the possibility to interface IPM with authentication and traceability solutions companies.

Cooperation with solution providers is an important development for IPM in order to access key data along the whole supply chain. Precise data improves the communication and information exchange between the private sector and field customs officers.  For this purpose, Tracekey documents all steps in the product life cycle for each individual product through to every individual component, with the solution enabling an unbroken chain of traceability. The system covers the entire value chain of a product, including suppliers, retailers and customers. “Our track-and-trace solution allows clients to seamlessly trace, unequivocally verify and reliably document their products from manufacturer to their end customer,” said Dr Stefan Hoffmann, MD and co-founder of Tracekey.

“We are glad to join the IPM network, and are confident of increasing the measures of protection against counterfeiting with the help of our software solution.”

By joining the WCO’s global network of track-and-trace and authentication solutions, companies become IPM connected and work with the WCO in its ongoing effort to combat illicit trade and the growing threat it poses to the economy. The WCO encourages all databases, sources of information or authentication/traceability solutions that could help customs officers in their fight against counterfeiting to interface with IPM.For more information on IPM, visit www.wcoipm.org.
