Upmarket British grocer Waitrose has launched click & collect services for waitrosecellar.com.
Customers can now order drink products from the Waitrosecellar online store and collect the purchases from over 300 Waitrose branches.
Online shoppers can choose from a range of over 1,200 wines and champagnes along with spirits and single-bottle gifts, said the retailer, with orders placed before 7pm being available for free collection from a customer’s chosen branch after 2pm the following day.
The Waitrosecellar eCommerce store was launched in May of this year.
Its range of 350 French wines make up one-third of customer purchases from the shopping site, said the grocer.A current online promotion allows customers to avail of a 25 per cent reduction on six or more bottles of wine and champagne until November 4.
Speaking on the new service, Robert McCarthy, head of Waitrose Cellar, said: “Click & Collect is a very popular shopping option and that is set to grow and grow, and over time we're expecting up to 50 per cent of orders to be for collection from store."
In the run-up to Christmas, this will be a convenient and time-saving solution for its customers to buy their wine, he said.
