Tesco Adds Private Label Alcohol-Free Wine To Portfolio

Tesco has begun selling two private label non-alcoholic wines in the form of Alcohol Free Chenin Blanc Sparkling and Alcohol Free Pinotage Blush (both South African), TheDrinksBusiness.com reports.

Both retail at £2.75, and are ranged in the soft-drink shelves of its supermarkets, as opposed to its wine shelves, and are part of the Tesco Finest* product line.

Tesco drinks-buyer Tauseef Parkar notes that the wines are fermented earlier than ordinary wines in order to be free of alcohol.

"We believe that these new drinks, which have been developed for us, will offer those drinkers wishing to avoid alcohol the closest taste to a real glass of wine," he said.

"Both drinks are deliciously light and refreshing, bursting with summer flavours and have been created as a non-alcoholic match for Prosecco and Prosecco Blush."

"They are also designed to look like elegant bottles of sparkling wine, rather than fruity flavoured soft drinks – something that would create a ‘wow’ factor rather than embarrassment if brought along to a party," he went on to add.
