Tesco Extends Visual Recognition Technology To Wine Sales

Tesco customers will soon be able to access video content and extra information on all wines in-store by simply pointing their smartphone at the bottle.

The retailer will bypass the need for on-pack QR codes on all wine labels with the visual recognition technology, which is utilized elsewhere by its 'Tesco Discover' smartphone app.

Currently, customers who have downloaded Tesco Discover can activate bonus content and video material by pointing their smartphone at 'trigger images' in the Tesco magazine.
