Tesco Recall Tony Hoggett From Asia To Become UK Chief Operations Officer

The head of Tesco’s Asian operations, Tony Hoggett, is returning to the UK to become the group's chief operations officer, according to Retail Gazette.

Before becoming the chief executive of Tesco Asia in March last year, Hoggett was the former chief operations officer for Tesco’s UK operations.

Hoggett will work under Tesco’s UK chief executive Charles Wilson. Alison Horner will assume Hoggett’s vacant chief operations position in Aisa. These changes will be effective as of June 1.

Long History

Hoggett joined Tesco in 1990 as a 19-year-old and worked his way up through various executive roles in the company.

Tesco CEO Dave Lewis said Hoggett had a unique experience to bring to the new group chief operations role, and that he would retain responsibility for joint ventures in India and China.

Lewis said, “This role will, like the chief product officer and chief customer officer roles, deliver for Charles and the UK business on a day-to-day basis, while also leveraging operational capability and strategy across the group."

Tesco recently announced that it posted a 28.4% rise in full-year profit, which 'underlined the recovery of Britain's biggest retailer under chief executive Dave Lewis'.
