Tesco Takes On Amazon With One-Hour Delivery Service In London
Tesco has announced that it now offers a one-hour grocery-delivery service to customers in London, in what is likely a nod to Amazon's growing presence in the UK capital.
From 26 June, customers have been able to order up to 20 items via the Tesco Now app, from a range of 1,000 products, which will be delivered within one hour. The range includes fresh fruit and vegetables, meat, bakery goods and dairy, as well as pet, baby, health and beauty products.
Orders are picked in a local Tesco store and delivered within one hour to households. Customers can also track their order via the Tesco Now app and receive live updates on the progress of their order.
Within The Hour
“From forgotten essentials to that crucial final ingredient, Tesco Now can get them to our customer's door within the hour," said Adrian Letts, online managing director at Tesco.
"Shoppers’ needs are changing, and we want to offer a range of services that allow them to shop with us in a way that suits their needs. We look forward to hearing what they think of the new service,” Letts said.
The service is priced at £7.99, with no minimum spend on each order, the retailer said. It is available between 8am and 11pm on weekdays and 9am until 11pm at weekends. As well as a one-hour delivery, a two-hour delivery option will also be available, priced at £5.99.
