Tesco is trialling a one hour delivery service in central London, following the establishment of similar delivery platforms by Amazon and Sainsbury’s.
Through this, shoppers in Zones 1 and 2 of the city can purchase up to 20 everyday SKUs for quick delivery, such as fresh produce, frozen products, meat, eggs, milk, bread, and a small number of toiletries.
The supermarket chain has enlisted the service of courier company Quiqup to carry out its deliveries.
Service Improvements
A spokesperson for the retail giant said, as quoted by Mirror.co.uk, “We’re always looking at new ways to improve the service we offer our customers, and are currently trialling a one hour grocery delivery service with a small number of colleagues and customers. We will examine the feedback and see how it goes.”
It is anticipated that Tesco will charge £5.99 its one-hour delivery – less than Amazon (£6.99) but more than Sainsbury’s (£4.99).
Last year, French grocer Carrefour began a one-hour delivery platform for Paris.
