Tetra Pak Launches Energy-Efficient Encapt Technology For Dairy Separators

Paper packaging heavyweight Tetra Pak has announced that its new technology Encapt reduces the energy consumed by milk and whey separators by 40%.

The 'breakthrough' pressure management technology reduces the atmospheric pressure surrounding the rotating separator bowl by using a low-pressure pump. The system is monitored by sensors that maintain minimal air friction.

This decrease in friction means that less energy is needed, making the separators more energy efficient.

AirTight Design

The Encapt technology is combined with an AirTight design in the bowl, making the whole system hermetically sealed and guaranteeing that no air enters into the space. The inlets at the top and the bottom save the centre for outlet flow, requiring less energy, the company said.

Tetra Pak product manager, Ulrika Rehn said, "We want to help customers meet the challenge of achieving superior product quality with lower operational costs, and a lower environmental footprint.

"Designed with built-in operational flexibility for different speeds and flow rates, customers can use the same line for different products, and achieve higher energy efficiencies than any other model available. In fact, they can save around 4 million kWh during the machine's lifespan.”
