FrieslandCampina Commits To LNG Fuel For Transport

Dairy giant FrieslandCampina has said that it is increasing its commitment to LNG fuel across its supply fleet, in order to reduce its CO2 emissions.

The group has increased new trucks powered either fully or partly by LNG this year, with one of its transportation partners in the Netherlands, Wigle de Vries of Transport Groep Noord, already seeing a 20% decrease in CO2 emissions as a result of using the new trucks.

The company commenced using LNG-powered trucks in 2014.

FrieslandCampina also said that it was encouraging its carriers to embrace new fuel technologies as much as possible, with LNG set to be replaced in the coming years with Bio-LNG, a new fuel type, developed entirely from biogas.

'More sustainable road transport is fully in line with the promise of FrieslandCampina to be leading in terms of sustainability,' the company noted in a statement.
