Tesco Opts For Microlise Fleet Tracking Systems

Tesco has announced it has installed Microlise Journey Management- and Trailer Tracking systems, on the 940 trailers of its transport fleet in Hungary, Slovakia, Poland and the Czech Republic.

The 'Journey Management' fleet-tracking telematics will help to monitor and compare transports and schedules in real time, which in turn will help to minimise mileage - reducing costs and environmental impact - and optimise efficiency in deliveries.

The 'Trailer Tracking' system will continuously monitor the location and activities of the trailers, sending regular reports or 'unauthorised movement' notifications.

"Being able to track journeys and identify how the routes we have scheduled are unfolding, compared with how we planned them, is fundamental to our adoption of Microlise in Central Europe," explained John Steventon, Primary Operations Manager Europe for Tesco. "The technology will enable us to understand how to improve our logistics efficiency and ultimately provide the best service for our customers, whilst keeping our assets safe."

In addition to the Microlise systems, Tesco will be using the proof-of-delivery (free) Google Play 'SmartPod' app.
