UK's SDEA Anticipates Rising Sales Despite Market Conditions

The UK's Shop and Display Equipment Association (SDEA), an organisation for providers of shop fitting, shelving, signage and point of display materials, has said that its members experienced an increase in sales in the first six months of the year, despite the looming threat of Brexit.

According to the SDEA, 40% of its members experienced an increase in sales in the first six months of the year, compared with the same period the previous year - the average increase in sales standing at around 23%.

When asked to forecast their sales prospects over the forthcoming six month period, some 45% of retail display suppliers expected their sales to rise by an average of 7%.

“It is extremely encouraging to see that members’ sales continue to rise," commented SDEA director Antony Behiels.

"The industry remains relatively buoyant despite the volatile UK economy. The remainder of the year is also looking healthy, even though many members expect continued price increases from their suppliers.”

The positive outlook comes despite anticipated price increases - 82% of members experienced price increases from suppliers over the past six months, with average prices rising by 7%.
