Discounters Lidl, MD Open New Stores In Italy

Lidl Italia has opened a new store in Calenzano (Florence), in the Tuscany region, reports FirenzeToday.

The new outlet, located in via Vittorio Emanuele, has a sales area of 1,300 square meters and a workforce of 14 employees.

The store features a strong green component, as all electricity comes from renewable sources. Lighting, furthermore, is powered by LED, which allows the store to reduce power consumption.

The new supermarket is open seven days a week and offers extended opening hours of up to 10:00pm from Monday to Friday and up to 9:00pm on Sunday.

New MD

Elsewhere, Italian discount supermarket chain has opened a new store in Veduggio con Colzano (MB), in the Lombardy region, reports Distribuzione Moderna.

Located in via Montegrappa 34, the new outlet is the 169th MD store in the Lombardy region. It has a sales area of 900 square meters, a car park with 80 parking spaces and employs 15 staff.

The new supermarket offers more than 2,000 private label references, including vegan, healthy and vegetarian products, as well as a range of products bearing DOP and IGP certification.

The MD store includes gastronomy, butchery and bakery departments, and also allocates a wide space to non-food articles.
