Lidl And Kaufland To Waive Contracts For Meat And Poultry Suppliers

Lidl and Kaufland have agreed to waive contracts for third parties involved in slaughtering, cutting and packaging of fresh meat and poultry in its own production by January 2021.

The move aims to help in establishing better working conditions in the supply chain.

Both companies were considering the possibility to remove fresh meat and poultry from the list of suppliers with work contracts for some time, Lidl said in its statement.

The initiative is being supported by several suppliers of Lidl and Kaufland including Westfleisch SCE mbH, Tönnies Group, Willms Fleisch, Landgeflügel, Heidemark GmbH, Hubers Landhendl GmbH, Plukon Food Group Deutschland, Baumann GmbH, Schiller Fleisch, and Wiesenhof.

Kaufland started to waive work contracts in its meat plants a few years ago, the company added.
