Unes Introduces Shelf-Based Product Review System

Italian private label brand Il Viaggiator Goloso has introduced a new product rating system for customers, the results of which are published under the products in-store.

Consumers can rate the premium private label products, operated by retailer U2, on the Il Viaggiator Goloso website. Once these votes are tallied, an average score (between one and five stars) and customer reviews are printed on an electronic label next to the price tag.

Store Rollout

The 'Vota VG' initiative has been currently been implemented in three Il Viaggiator Goloso stores in Milan, at Viale Belisario, Milano 3 Basiglio and Buccinasco.

This is the first such initiative in the Italian retail sector and, so far, more than 80,000 consumer reviews have been published on the site.

Between now and 4 November, consumers that submit their votes and comments will be able to avail of a €5 discount voucher, valid for the 120 stores trading under the U! Come tu mi vuoi, U2 Supermercato and Il Viaggiator Goloso banners, as well as in Iper, la grande i hypermarkets.

According to the director of sales, marketing and communications of Unes, Rossella Brenna, “customer reviews positively influence other customer purchases, drive product development and improvement, and inspire offline communications activities".
