Wabel Launches China Export Acceleration Programme To Help Suppliers

As one of the most important meeting points for buyers and suppliers, Wabel’s objective is simple: to facilitate communications and business between retailers and suppliers, big and small.

Today, Wabel counts over 7,500 suppliers in its data factory and works with the biggest retailers in the European marketplace. This year, Wabel has launched the China Export Acceleration Programme, to help suppliers enter the Chinese market.

China is currently the world’s largest consumer market for food and beverages, with confidence in domestically produced food declining and consumers very eager to buy imported food. However, exporters to China need a complete business solution, including logistics, customs know-how and local invoicing, as well as sales and marketing.

With this in mind, Wabel has partnered with the China Chain Store & Franchise Association, the official representative of the retailing and franchise industry in China, and City Shop China, the Chinese European food importer and retailer specialist, to offer to suppliers a one-stop-shop solution for Chinese market entry and sales.

“I spent 15 years of my life developing European exports to China. I am now delighted to capitalise on this experience to offer Wabel members the access to the largest consumer market in the world,” said Wabel chief executive Pierre Asseo.

“Chinese consumers’ purchasing power keeps increasing. Consumers are more and more sensitive to food quality and ingredients, and the fact that many of them have travelled to Europe increases their appetite to purchase European food and personal-care products at home. The time is now right to promote Western products through online, traditional retail and foodservice channels in China, and Wabel has established partnerships with key players in these areas.”
