Waitrose Extends Scottish Craft Beer Selection

UK retailer Waitrose has announced it has doubled its Scottish craft beer selection, adding 49 new variants to its shelves.

The upmarket grocer has also increased the number of Scottish breweries it works with, from 13 to 21. As well as adding new suppliers, it has added more beers from some existing suppliers, increasing its range to over 90.

Of the new beers added, 12 are exclusive to Waitrose supermarkets, including three new options from Fallen Brewing in Stirlingshire, two from Lossiemouth-based Windswept Brewing and a gluten-free beer from Black Isle Brewery.

“This is the biggest regional beer hunt Waitrose has ever undertaken, which gives you an idea of how seriously we are taking the craft beer movement in Scotland," said Waitrose buyer Oliver O'Mara.

Waitrose now stocks beer from 21 breweries in Scotland, including UK-wide suppliers Brewdog, Innis and Gunn and McEwan's.
