Waitrose Sees 2.8% Increase In Sales
UK retailer Waitrose has highlighted an increase of 2.8% in sales last week, mainly driven by its half price event and the marketing campaign for its 'essential' private label range.
The 'essential Waitrose' products that experienced a growth in sales includes croissants, which were up 232%, baked beans (+142%), and fish fingers (+95%).
In the drinks segment, rum and gin promotions contributed to a rise of 24% in spirit sales.
Waitrose currently operates 352 shops in England, Scotland, Wales and the Channel Islands, and exports products to 58 countries worldwide.
Earlier this month, Waitrose parent company John Lewis Partnership reported that sales at the supermarket chain were up by 2.3% to £3,324 million in the first half of 2017.
