X5 Opens Landmark 1,500th Pyaterochka Store In Moscow Region

Russian food retailer X5 Retail Group has announced that Pyaterochka has opened its 1,500th store in the Moscow region.

The landmark store opened in Lenino, in the Istra city district.

It has more than 500 square metres of sales space and offers over 3,500 SKUs, with a special emphasis on fruit, vegetables and fresh category goods, including meat, dairy and fish. These account for more than a third of the store’s product offering.

Locally Sourced

Domestically produced goods account for 90% of the product assortment, some 20% of which is sourced locally, including the Ruzsky bread factory and the Klinsky bread-baking complex.

X5 said that it worked with over 250 suppliers located in the Moscow region last year.

X5 announced that, by the end of 2018, Pyaterochka plans to open 11 more stores in the Istra district and over 150 stores in the Moscow region.

X5 recently announced that it is testing 'Helping Tills', a new self-checkout machine with voice assistance, which will help customers. The new technology is being tested in Pyaterochka stores in Moscow.
