Coop Danmark Introduces Delivery App At Irma Stores

Coop Danmark has introduced a new delivery app at its Irma stores in Copenhagen, which, the retailer says, will make online shopping 'easy, cheap and fast'.

The app, Fetch, was created by a Danish start-up company and allows customers to order their groceries online. The products are then immediately packed in store and delivered by private bicycle messengers within minutes.

The service is based on a sharing economy, which the retailer describes as 'a kind of Uber for bicycle messengers'. Any cyclist can register to be a messenger and make money by delivering groceries to other Irma customers in their area.

Responsibility And Sustainability

So far, a few hundred customers and messengers have registered for the scheme, which has been introduced in Irma stores in the inner city and Christianshavn.

Christian Thorbor, director of Fetch, said that there is great interest in the new service, especially due to the quick delivery times, which are often less than 15 to 20 minutes.

Søren Steffensen, director of Irma, added that the app provides a new shopping experience and contributes to Irma's vision of having a grocery service "based on responsibility and sustainability".
