Anheuser-Busch InBev NV, the world’s largest brewer, plans to invest more than $1.5 billion in the US by 2018 to upgrade facilities and develop new products.
The maker of Budweiser and Stella Artois will spend $850 million on brewery and packaging projects, $720 million on measures to boost efficiency, and $220 million on new product development, it said in a statement.
This follows a three-year $1-billion programme that culminated in 2014, which included new cider products such as Stella Artois Cidre and Johnny Appleseed, and developing recloseable aluminium bottles.
More than $250 million worth of projects in the US are already in progress, including the expansion of a facility in St Louis that makes aluminium Bud Light bottles.
