Computer Glitch At Tesco: Chocolate Surprise For Customers

Following on from the 29p Terry’s Chocolate Orange pricing error at UK grocer Tesco last month, another computer error at the retailer meant that tubes of chocolate Smarties were sold for 5p, Kit Kat Chunky bars for 10p, and Aero bars for 12p. One customer said that they bought 330 tubes of Smarties, thanks to the pricing error. The glitch saw customers rush to Tesco Express stores after the mistake was posted on an Internet message board.

{loadposition user99} The latest error comes soon after a customer bought 192 Chocolate Oranges for just £57 instead of £471. The glitch occurred at Tesco’s 1,285 Express stores; it was highlighted on a money saving website.  One customer said, "I know it works on the Smarties and Aero as I have cleared the shelves in all Express stores within a 15 mile radius of me."

A spokesman for Tesco confirmed that the mistake was in operation at its Express stores. (3 Nov)
