Swiss Migros Bank Develops New Payment App

The Swiss Migros Bank has developed a mobile payment app which can be used in Migros supermarkets as well as in other shops.

Migros CEO Herbert Bolliger announced that the launch of the service would be in the second half of 2015, according to Schweiz am Sonntag. Migros's technological development is one of a number of new payment systems in Switzerland if its kind

Migros is the country's largest retail company, and most prominent employer. It co-founded Turkey's largest retailer, Migros Türk, which became independent of Migros Switzerland in 1975.

Its primary rival is Coop, Switzerland's second-largest grocer; among its less prominent competitors are the Manor department store chain, Aldi (which entered Switzerland in 2005), and Lidl, which started trading in the country in 2009.
