Patak's Lime Pickle, the most popular item in a curry-product line that sells 1.5 million jars in the UK each year, is to revert to its original recipe, after members of the public lambasted the company for adding extra kalonji seeds and extra lime to it, TheGuardian.com reports.
The changes to the recipe drew criticism from fans on social media. “Why does it taste like toilet cleaner?” wrote one individual on Amazon. “The old lime pickle recipe was SO much better. That’s the first and last jar I buy of the ‘new improved’ pickle. Yuk!” said another on Patak's Facebook page.
There were over 250 such comments, and the company, founded in 1957, relented quickly and returned to the original recipe.
On many supermarket shelves the message “It’s back!” is founded next to or under the product.
