Lidl And Groupe Casino Improve French Market Share

Lidl and Groupe Casino improved their market shares in France on a like-for-like basis between 10 August and 6 September, according to Kantar Worldpanel, while those of Auchan, Carrefour and others regressed, lsa-conso.fr reports.

On a like-for-like basis, Lidl France’s hold of market share went up by 30 basis points to take it to 4.6 per cent overall, while that of Casino was boosted by 20 basis points, taking it to 11.6 per cent. Casino’s performance owes primarily to the recent success of its discount arm, Leader Price, LSA says.

Furthermore, Intermarché’s control of market share went up by 10 basis points, as did cooperative Système U. E. Leclerc was up by 20 basis points during the period.

Netto, Simply Market and Franprix all were down by 10 basis points. Groupe Auchan was down by 40 basis points, and Groupe Carrefour by 50 basis points.

Aldi’s market share was unchanged, as was Groupe Delhaize's.
