Arla Foods Appoints Jan Toft Nørgaard As Chairman

Arla Foods, one of the world's biggest dairy companies, has appointed Jan Toft Nørgaard, 58, as chairman of Arla Foods amba, effective 2 July this year.

Arla’s board of directors appointed the Danish-born Nørgaard during its board meeting on 24 May, following former chairman's Åke Hantoft’s decision to retire from dairy farming upon the completion of the sale of his dairy farm in Ösarp, Sweden.

Driving Development

Nørgaard said, “I am honoured by the confidence the Board of Directors has shown me. I am humble about the task I take on as chairman and I look forward to working closely with the board and the management of the company on continuing the development of Arla Foods.”

The new chairman will be tasked with growing the global dairy category and its strong portfolio of global brands, which are integral to Arla’s Good Growth 2020 strategy, for the benefit of its 11,200 farmer owners and the company's customers and consumers.

Arla also announced that it will announce a vice chairman by 2 July to ensure the smooth transition of the position.

Arla recently announced that it will start a cost-cutting programme to save €400 million by the end of 2020 in response to challenges from Brexit.
